Chartered Human and Veterinary Physiotherapist
To become a Chartered Physiotherapist you must complete an undergraduate degree course in Human
Physiotherapy.

To use the prestigious term 'Chartered Physiotherapist' you must become a member of the Chartered
Society of Physiotherapy. When you are a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists you are
then eligible to apply for state registration.

When you have completed at least two years of practice working within the Human physiotherapy field
you can then specialise in Veterinary Physiotherapy. There are two methods  to qualify as a Veterinary
Physiotherapist:

  • Train and be mentored by ACPAT (The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal
Therapy) category 'A' members and also attend courses/seminars over a two year period.
  • Complete an Postgraduate Diploma and Msc from The Royal Veterinary College (RVC)
Once fully qualified you are then required to regularly attend conferences, seminars and courses. This helps to promote your
clinical and technical knowledge and maintain the integrity of the profession.
